FAQ's

Why must I test and tag?
Occupational Health and Safety standard AS/NZS 3760:2003 requires businesses to have electrical appliances tested and tagged for safety legislation compliance.  In addition, employers must  keep a record  of  all inspections, testing and maintenance of the equipment.

Could I do the testing myself?
For you to undertake your own testing and tagging, you would need to purchase expensive testing equipment, have staff with the required relevant qualification of performing testing and tagging (which requires training), and most importantly, your time is lost (all further costs to you!).

Please be aware that most low-cost portable appliance testers on the market today do not comply with Australian standards since they only test to the outer electronic On/Off switch, not to the power source itself.  Businesses using these low-cost devices risk passing faulty equipment!

With litigation now common-place and harsh penalties threatened for safety legislation non-compliance, CONTACT US NOW TO AVOID COSTLY MISTAKES.

What if equipment is “failed”?
We are able to repair on-site most faulty equipement and retest to pass status.  Equipment that is found to be hazardous is tagged accordingly.

We notify the person in charge of all equipment that needs to be repaired or replaced.

Equipment that is marked as ”failed” is deemed as hazardous and must be removed from service.

What documentation is provided?
AS/NZS 3760:2003 requires that employers keep a record of all inspections, testing and maintenance of electrical equipment - we make this easy by providing you with a data-base of all equipment tested and tagged,  showing assets and test results.

A copy of all data-bases is kept on file.

We will record when your next testing and tagging is due, and will contact you to make arrangements for this to be carried out.

What electrical equipment needs to be tested?
All portable plug-in appliances (equipment that is not hard-wired) must be tested.  Examples are:

computers
monitors
printers
fax machines
scanners
photocopiers
kitchen appliances
electric power  tools
power boards
extension cords
all double insulated appliances
portable airconditioners / desk-fans
heaters
vacuum cleaners
audio/visual apparatus
